The terracotta
Altomonte Terracotta, established for four generations now, is today in the hands of Maestro Maurizio and is one of the few artisanal and traditional activities present in Calabria. Clay processing has always been done manually. In fact, through the hands of the potters who still use the old wheel pushed with their feet, the various products are given shape.
After the first cooking in ovens at very high temperatures, the so-called biscuit is obtained on which, since the beginning, decorations have been made by hand.
Once the decorative part of the products is finished, they are put back into the oven for polishing and then ready for marketing.
